I've played banjo since I was 14 years old. I've been a student of French history, worked in a music store, and done various jobs related to computers. Besides playing in Lonesome County I also teach banjo lessons and run an online banjo educational web site called BanjoTrain.

My first banjo influences were Earl Scruggs, Eddie Adcock, and Ralph Stanley. I try in include something from all of the great banjo players I've heard or seen in person over the last 40 years. Besides banjo players I've been enlightened by many great guitar, fiddle, mandolin, bass, and dobro players. I'd especially like to thank Jimmy Gaudreau, Bill Emerson, J D Crowe, Courtney Johnson, and Tony Rice for all the great licks and grooves they've turned me on to.

I take singing as seriously as playing the banjo. The same guys who influenced me on the banjo are also people whose singing I've loved and tried to emulate. I'd also like to specifically thank Carter Stanley, John Duffy, and Bill Monroe - gone but not forgotten.

I play a 1994 Gibson Earl Scruggs Standard banjo. I've modified it by adding a Huber Tone ring, Fults tailpiece, and a First Quality Music Historic Growth Factory Floor rim Check out my web site for more info on banjo setup..
