I was raised on bluegrass and old time fiddle music as well as Irish dance music and Scottish fiddle tunes.
I've played the guitar for sixteen years. My biggest influences were Tony Rice, Doc Watson, Clarence White and Grady Martin. My singing has come from many different styles and influences from John Denver to John Duffey. Lester Flatt holds a special spot in my heart. His phrasing and relaxed approach to singing have long been the best in my book.
The guitar I play is a Larrivee D-50 Mahogany model. It is by far the most balanced and most powerful guitar I have ever had in my hands. I've owned many other guitars but this is the ONE. It's affectionately named "The Hoss."
My favorite part about being in LC is the drive and energy that sets us apart from many groups. I also like the freedom to experiment with different rhythm patterns and back-up roles within the group. And no one ever tells me to quit! It's like being at home every time we play. This is where I belong. |
